Every autumn the small temple town of Pushkar hosts the Pushkar Mela, a livestock and cultural fair held around Kartik Purnima. Herders arrive from across Rajasthan with camels, horses and cattle, and the town fills with music, competitions and pilgrims who come to bathe in the sacred lake beside one of the very few temples dedicated to Lord Brahma.
Fair dates follow the Hindu lunar calendar and change each year – we confirm exact dates when you enquire. Camp rooms fill fast, so early booking is recommended.
Best time to travel: October – November (around Kartik Purnima)
